Hisense Announces New Ultra-Short-Throw “Laser TV” Projector

Hisense, the Chinese multinational appliance and electronics maker that was virtually unknown on these shores a decade ago, continues to expand its TV and projection lineups, most recently with a new 100-inch 4K LED-backlit LCD TV and now with word that it plans to add a new model to its line of ultra-short-throw (UST) “laser TV” projectors.

A follow-up to the Top Pick-rated PX1-Pro UST projector we reviewed in 2022, the new PX3-Pro will use the latest version of the company’s TriChroma triple-laser projection technology when it hits stores in the July-September time-frame with a price tag of $3,500, which is what the PX1-Pro originally sold for. (As of this writing, the PX1-Pro is available on Amazon for just under $3,000.)

In addition to supporting Dolby Vision and HDR10+ high dynamic range (HDR), the PX3-Pro is able to project images between 80 and 150 inches (diagonal) in size and employs AI-driven algorithms to “enhance brightness, fine-tune contrast, and eliminate noise” in real-time, according to Hisense. The projector is also said to cover 110% of the BT.2020 color space and is rated to produce 3,000 ANSI lumens of brightness; native contrast ratio is spec’d at 3,000:1.

The projector is built around the Google TV smart platform, which provides ready access to Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, and supports IMAX Enhanced, polarized (with glasses) 3D playback, and "high refresh rates" for gaming and sports. On the sound side, the projector supports Dolby Atmos surround sound and has a built-in 50-watt sound system featuring Harman Kardon speakers.
