Yamaha Adds MusicCast-Enabled Speaker & More
The company announced shipment of the WX-010 wireless speaker, WXA-50 streaming amplifier, WXC-50 streaming preamplifier, R-N402 Hi-Fi network receiver, and YSP-2700 soundbar.
A compact alternative to the WX-030, the WX-010 speaker ($200) has a 3.5-inch woofer, 1-inch tweeter, and dual opposing passive radiators in an enclosure measuring 4.8 x 6.3 x 5 inches.
The WXA-50 amplifier ($500) and WXC-50 preamplifier ($350) are aimed at music enthusiasts who want to integrate high-performance audio into a MusicCast system. Common highlights include ESS digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and a compact aluminum chassis measuring 8.4 x 2 x 9.6 inches that can be situated horizontally or vertically.
The two-channel R-N402 network receiver ($450) is rated to deliver 2 x 100 watts and features an “advanced circuit design” and brushed-aluminum faceplate.
The slim YSP-2700 ($1,200), Yamaha’s third MusicCast-enabled soundbar, uses an array of 16 small drivers and proprietary Digital Sound Projector technology to produce 7.1-channel surround sound. It comes with a stand-alone wireless subwoofer and has three HDMI inputs and an HDMI output that supports pass through of high-dynamic range 4K content.
The MusicCast platform supports streaming from Pandora, Spotify Connect, Rhapsody, SiriusXM Internet Radio, and thousands of internet radio stations in addition to distributing music stored on networked computers, smartphones, and tablets to MusicCast-enabled products over a home’s Wi-Fi network. The MusicCast app allows mobile devices to double as a multiroom system controller.
