Okay.  At this very moment, it's 53 days, 11 hours and 13 minutes until the DTV transition. We keep talking about it, but the National Telecommunications and Information Administration wants everyone to hustle up and get ready. 22 million people have applied for 41 million $40 vouchers for their DTV converter boxes (each household can get two vouchers,) but only 14 million have been redeemed.

Even after you apply, the coupon takes weeks to get to you, so don't put it off. You have until March 31,2009 to apply for a coupon, but do you really want to watch static after February 17?

"You should deal with this now," urges Todd Sedmak, spokesman for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, which is handling the coupon program.

"We're encouraging people to apply for coupons by the end of the year," says Linda Yun, spokeswoman for the National Association of Broadcasters.

Everyone is talking about it, and we just feel obligated to post this instructional video just one more time.  But,there is an underlying message: go help someone who might be a little confused about the transition. Make it your New Year resolution to help the DTV transition. — Leslie Shapiro
