Bowie: artist, philanthropist
Man for all seasons, adopted New Yorker, and sometime visual artist David Bowie (who's the subject of a new retrospective at the Museum of Arts and Design) has contributed a print for auction to a new fundraising effort by NYC-based nonprofit Housing Works (which provides support for the homeless and people living with HIV/AIDS. The original of IMAN No. 1 (Iman is a co-chair of the intiative) going to be auctioned off at this weekend's Design on a Dime launch event, but 10 prints will be available (beginning May 12) through 20X200.com, with proceeds benefiting Housing Works.
