JL Audio Fathom f212 Subwoofer HT Labs Measures

HT Labs Measures

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the F212 subwoofer (blue trace).

The F212’s close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 20 Hz and the –6dB point is at 18 Hz. The upper –3dB point is at 132 Hz with the LP Filter control set to Off.—MJP

I would like to thank Darryl Wilkinson for providing three well written, inciteful reviews and, in particular, the JL Review. I haven't heard the sub in person but if its anything remotely like the Fathom 113, it must be incredible.

Thanks to Rob Sabin as well. When Rob took the reigns at HT, I wrote a reply asking for a subwoofer comparo. While Rob indicated that it would be difficult to conduct such a winner-take-all comparison, it is good to see that we readers get three great reviews of subs for those of varying budgets. I could certainly understand the heated discussions among HT staff of which subs to pick.

For future reviews, please give some consideration to VELODYNE, SVSOUND, KKPROFESSIONAL SOUND (Ken Kriesel, formerly of M&K), B&W and PARADIGM (other than the Signature Sub 1 former HT editor Shane Buettner reviewed).

Great Work, HT.
