Known to the world as superheroes Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, Bob Parr and his wife Helen were among the world's greatest crime fighters, saving lives and battling evil on a daily basis. Fifteen years later, they have been forced to adopt civilian identities and retreat to the suburbs to live "normal" lives with their three kids, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack. Itching to get back into action, Bob gets his chance when a mysterious communication summons him to a remote island for a top secret assignment. He soon discovers that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total destruction.

All of the Disney Pixar titles have been standouts on Blu-ray and this is no exception. The Incredibles has a very interesting look to it with the opening sequence giving you a dated feel followed by the near monochromatic look of Bob Parr’s now not so super life. But once the action starts taking place, the lush island backdrop and pretty much everything else kicks into high gear with gorgeous colors, depth and dimension. Fine object detail is outstanding throughout and I love how vivid the colors looked on the island. The animation still holds up well though I wouldn’t say it was quite up to par with Pixar’s more recent masterpieces. The soundtrack is probably the real highlight here. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mix is incredibly intense with amazing spatial design and low end prowess. There are several sequences that would make perfect home theater audio demonstrations, but even the normal scenes are a testament to the outstanding attention Pixar pays to its sound design. Subtle ambiance is excellent and the voice work is perfect. Honestly, presentations just don’t get much better than this.

Disney does a bang up job with this new Blu-ray set. Not only do you get the Blu-ray presentation of the movie, Disney has also included a DVD copy plus a digital copy for your portable devices. All of the supplements from the previous 2-disc DVD release are also included and cover most of the production and lend a lot of insight into making the movie and the animation. Two Pixar shorts are included in full high definition; Boundin' and Jack Jack Attack. Some new features have been added as well including a roundtable discussion with the creators, a look at the animation process and more behind the scenes fun.

It is almost impossible to rate the Pixar films as all have been so much fun and outstanding in their own right. The Incredibles is definitely one of my favorites though and continues to be one of the best “superhero” films ever put on screen. The Blu-ray delivers the good in an incredible fashion making this a must own for any collector.
