Samsung today introduced a new entry-level series of OLED TVs and added smaller screen sizes to fill in its mid-level OLED series.

The move continues the more aggressive stance the TV market leader has taken in OLED, a category it all but ceded to LG for the better part of a decade — until everyone was talking about the high-brightness S95D quantum-dot (QD) OLED display Samsung introduced in 2022.

The new entry-level S85D OLED series is offered in three screen sizes at prices below Samsung’s other OLED models: 55 inches ($1,700), 65 inches ($2,100), and 77 inches ($3,400). Though the series does not incorporate QD-OLED display technology, it boasts the same NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor, 4K AI upscaling capabilities, and Pantone Validated color accuracy offered across the brand’s OLED TV models.

S85D model highlights include OLED HDR+ and HDR10+ high dynamic range (HDR) processing, four HDMI 2.1 ports with support for eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), and 4K at 120Hz (the latter two on all ports), Filmmaker Mode, Samsung’s Gaming Hub and Motion Xcelerator with 144-Hz processing for smoother gaming action, and Dolby Atmos sound with Samsung’s Object Tracking Sound Lite processing, designed to enhance realism by tracking the sound of objects as they move across the screen.

Samsung has also expanded its mid-level S90C series, adding four new screen sizes to the existing 55- and 65-inch models: 42 inches ($1,400), 48 inches ($1,600), 77 inches ($3,700), and 83 inches ($5,400). All of the new screen sizes are available except for the 42-incher, which is “coming soon.” Pricing for the existing 55- and 65-inch S90C models is $2,000 and $2,700, respectively.

Like the S85D series, S90C models do not incorporate quantum dot display technology and offer a very similar feature set. For more information, visit samsung.com.
