Surround Format for Digital Radio Broadcast and Internet Streaming
DTS Neural Surround™ is an exciting technology that allows you to have amazing surround sound from sources you’d never expect. The technology can deliver up to 7.1 surround from stereo audio sources such as live TV Broadcasts, Gaming, HD Radio, and Sirrius/XM Satellite Radio. The process works something like this: the original multi-channel audio is down-mixed to stereo and given an analog watermark, next the AVR or HTIB with DTS Neural Surround up mixes the stereo content to 5.1 or 7.1 surround using the watermark. The DTS Neural technology ingeniously results is near-discrete 5.1 or 7.1 surround without the “channel bleed” and murky dialogue found in other “blind up mix” technologies.
Better Surround Sound for Live Sports
Because DTS Neural technologies allow broadcasters to deliver surround sound over stereo, it is the preferred choice for hundreds of television broadcast stations and affiliates to manage stereo and surround sound content, solve network and local loudness issues, and to broadcast live TV sports, HD and FM Radio in 5.1 over legacy networks. On the consumer side, as of 2009, 3.2 million home A/V receivers were shipped with DTS Neural Surround in such top brands as Yamaha, Onkyo, Integra, Sony, Pioneer, Denon and Marantz. This huge adoption of DTS technology proves that Broadcasters can rest assured that end users will enjoy surround sound at the highest possible resolution.
HD Radio
In 2010, DTS Neural Surround is the surround format for HD Radio, and there are more than 600 stations nationwide broadcasting weekly production of original surround programming including world-class classical and jazz performances. Some performances and programs that can be found in DTS Neural Surround include Aspen Chamber Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra; JazzSet, which is broadcast twice weekly to over 100 stations, Minnesota Public Radio and Symphonycast broadcasting to approximately 200 stations in 2010. Radio stations featuring Neural Surround exist in the top 15 US markets from New York to Los Angeles.
In Your Car
Featured in high-end automotive sound systems, DTS Neural Surround technology will be included in Ford/Lincoln vehicles starting with 2010 production models that include the Lincoln MKT, MKS, MKX and MKZ, Navigator and Navigator L.
