Yamaha recently announced the RX300A and RX500A, two new AV receivers that will be taking their respective places in the company’s entry- and step-up AV receiver lineups. Both RX Series units are said to be capable of delivering Dolby Atmos immersion, support for 4K/120Hz HDMI for gamers, 8K video, and enhanced wireless streaming.

Focal has announced Mu-so Hekla, an all-in-one immersive home-cinema system with Dolby Atmos, new Sphere audio modes, and the latest Naim Pulse platform. The system launches today at the Focal Powered by Naim store in Seoul, rolls out first in South Korea and China, then globally in Q1 2026, with a North American retail target of March. It will appear at CES (January 6–9, 2026) and ISE (February 3–6, 2026).

MartinLogan adds two sealed subwoofers, the Grotto 12 and Grotto 15. Each uses a Hybrid Woofer System with one active aluminum driver and two same-size aluminum passive radiators, backed by the Magnitude MT-2kW amplifier (2000W peak/1000W continuous) and an ultra-high-resolution Vojtko DSP engine. Wireless control and signal connection are built in, with ARC room correction support.

Sennheiser has announced the HDB 630, closed-back wireless headphones designed to deliver what the company calls "audiophile sound wherever you are." Announced October 8, the HDB 630 shares its chassis with the MOMENTUM 4 but features a custom acoustic system built around a 42mm dynamic transducer manufactured at Sennheiser's Tullamore, Ireland facility.

Devialet has introduced Phantom Ultimate, the latest generation of its compact, spherical wireless speakers. The line consists of the flagship Phantom Ultimate 108 dB ($3,800) and the smaller Phantom Ultimate 98 dB ($1,900). Both are offered in Light Pearl and Deep Forest finishes; an Opéra de Paris edition adds hand-applied 22-carat gold accents at $4,300 (108 dB) and $2,400 (98 dB). Devialet says the 98 dB model is available now, while the 108 dB is open for pre-orders via Devialet stores, premium dealers, and online.

I was in Cupertino for Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 reveal, brought a pair home, and did some early listening away from campus. The pitch lines up with what I’m hearing so far: a quieter backdrop and firmer low end. Apple’s explanation is straightforward. The buds use a new multiport acoustic architecture that controls airflow into the ear canal, paired with foam‑infused ear tips (now five sizes, including XXS) to improve the passive seal.
