>> Feature-Packed and Ready For 3D
Yamaha Technologies Yamaha is known for its legendary DSP (digital signal processing) and surround technologies. Highly developed proprietary technologies have been integrated into all of Yamaha's audio products since the mid-80's. Their continued development of exclusive technologies that are integrated alongside existing industry-wide formats, further advance the home entertainment listening experience.
With these new 67 Series A/V receivers (RX-V667, RX-V567, RX-V467, and RX-V367, Yamaha delivers wide-ranging source connectivity and convenience features for superior HD video and audio performance. Now that 3D video technology is moving into the home environment, the importance of sound to heighten and involve the viewer has never been more critical. Surround is no longer good enough, the new goal is – total immersion.
• CINEMA DSP
Complimenting the new 3D HDTV technology, Cinema DSP provides extra sonic dimensions with breathtaking presence that makes you feel like you are in a much larger space. While conventional 5.1 and 6.1 channel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding that use matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects, Yamaha's CINEMA DSP takes the process a step further. CINEMA DSP actually creates richly realized independent sound fields, and when merged they envelope you in sound, for an extraordinary surround sound experience that is more immersive than using Dolby or DTS alone. The walls of your room will disappear and you sense a far more spacious environment. For details about how Cinema DSP enhances the 3D video experiences, click here
• SILENT CINEMA
This mode allows private listening enjoyment of multi-channel music or movie sound, including Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround, through ordinary headphones. To achieve this effect, Yamaha engineers used classic binaural recording techniques to study how people hear. By placing two small microphones inside people's ears, they could record sounds from different points and create a map of how we hear and detect sounds. Using the map, they then determine how to direct sounds from various directions and reproduce that effect in headphones.
• ADAPTIVE DYNAMIC RANGE CONTROL
The compensation performed by Yamaha's volume control technology is activated automatically so all dialogue is heard clearly at low levels, and there are no sudden loud bursts of sound. It is also useful for eliminating the volume fluctuations between loud commercials and ordinary programming.
• COMPRESSED MUSIC ENHANCER
Additionally, the Compressed Music Enhancer processes multi-channel signals using a Yamaha designed DSP algorithm, so all channels (rather than just two) are enhanced, providing more accurate reproduction, and a more expansive sound. The RX-V567 and RXV-467 allows playback of music files stored on iPods and iPhones.
Surround Formats The cost of entry for state-of the-art surround formats has decreased significantly. Providing the perfect combination of performance and versatility for HD audio, Yamaha's new RX-V667, RX-567, and RX-V467 A/V receivers incorporate the full compliment of Dolby and DTS technologies. It no longer breaks the bank to enjoy the full dynamics and impact of HD soundtracks.
There are three Dolby Digital processes, which are automatically selected by the Yamaha AVR depending on content. Dolby Digital is often the defacto surround format.
An additional four formats come from DTS. Like Dolby Digital, content will determine the appropriate process, which will be selected by the AVR automatically. On Blu-ray discs often there is a choice for a Dolby or DTS encoded soundtrack. Many times, it defaults to Dolby so be sure to check the Audio Set-up on your disc if you prefer to use the DTS process.
The entry-level RX-V367 only features the basic Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround formats.
Ready for 3D To make way for the increasing demand to play 3D movies at home, Yamaha integrates Cinema DSP audio processing into all new 67 series models, which provides an extra sonic dimension with standout presence that compliments 3D video content. With Yamaha's latest 67 Series A/V receivers, music and movie enthusiasts can fully enjoy Blu-ray content, HD broadcasts, and gaming consoles, with recently introduced 3D televisions for a thoroughly engaging 3D experience both visually and audibly. Yamaha even supports all the 3D delivery formats adopted by broadcasters and the Blu-ray Association. Yamaha has upgraded the 67 Series with the new HDMI v1.4 protocol that adds a number of major enhancements to the HDMI specification to support distribution of content with higher bandwidths such as 3D video and higher resolutions than 1080p. These new input/output protocols allow the latest 3D displays and source devices to communicate through the single HDMI link. Current high-speed HDMI cables will support delivery of the 3D content with devices equipped with HDMI v1.4. Expanded Communication With the proliferation of portable devices, it was necessary for Yamaha to come up with methods for integrating these gadgets into the total home entertainment environment. All three of the new 67 Series AV receivers provide support for connecting with Bluetooth devices in addition to Apple iPhones and iPods. For these AVRs to communicate with Bluetooth devices, Yamaha's Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver, the YBA-10 is required (optional accessory). Connect the YBA-10 to the dock port of the AVR and listen to music from another Bluetooth enabled device through your Yamaha AVR. Bluetooth's advanced audio distribution profile (A2DP) ensures high quality streaming of 2-channel audio. To playback and control music from an iPhone or iPod right from your Yamaha AVR remote, purchase the YDS-12 docking station. There is a dedicated port on the 67 Series AVRs to connect with the dock, which will also charge the iPhone/iPad. Watch movies and images that you've stored on the iPhone/iPod and listen to music with greater clarity and depth than ever before by activating Yamaha's Compression Music Enhancer. Song titles are displayed right on the AVRs front panel display. With the RX-V667 and RX-V567, the contents on the iPhone/iPod are viewable via the AVRs on-screen display.
