>> Simplified Home Theater
Home theater systems have grown more complex with the integration of varied AV components such as HDTVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, DVRs, cable and satellite boxes, in addition to digital media sources like Internet radio, iPods, and even USB flash drives, just to name a few. The addition of all these media sources has already complicated a very real problem with most home theaters – how to effectively control all these sources without juggling half a dozen remotes. There is a wide selection of universal remote controllers available but none offer the elegant and sophisticated solution like Yamaha's neoHD Media Controller (models YMC-700 and YMC-500).
For many people, a neoHD Media Controller will replace a traditional AV Receiver since it provides built-in amplifiers and speaker terminals. As the centerpiece of a home entertainment system, the neoHD operates all connected devices with a small handheld controller that navigates an easy and intuitive on-screen interface. The neoHD Media Controller uses fewer functions or visible buttons to provide the same level of functionality as large, feature-rich AV receivers. When IR-based audio and video components are connected to the neoHD, they are easily controlled with the supplied handheld remote. The remote is extremely user friendly and incorporates only the most commonly used buttons such as power, volume, channel, mute, and menu navigation. All other commands are located on the on-screen interface. To control an individual source, say a Blu-ray player, the commands for that device appear on-screen at the touch of a button. The icon-based menus are super easy to navigate from the neoHD handheld remote plus you no longer have to hunt and peck for the right button in the dark. The neoHD is able to control all connected IR devices with IR flashers that connect from the back of the neoHD to the front panel of each device. While thousands of IR command codes already exist within the neoHD, additional codes are easily learned. The neoHD provides three HDMI ports and offers video conversion up to 1080p for non-HD sources. A plethora of built-in decoders and sound technologies allow the neoHD to provide 5.1 channels of immersive surround sound supporting key formats like Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS 96/24, 2ch Linear PCM and Multichannel Linear PCM. While the neoHD Media Controller is a 5.1 channel system, Yamaha’s AIR SURROUND XTREME technology is incorporated to achieve extraordinary 7.1 virtual surround from only two speakers. To insure optimum sound on every source, the neoHD incorporates Yamaha's proprietary YPAO to automatically set the best sound for any room regardless of speaker type or placement. The two neoHD models – the YMC-700 and YMC-500 – are virtually identical except the YMC-700 is capable of connecting to a home network, wired or wirelessly. Either using WiFi or the neoHD's Ethernet port, the neoHD can access Internet Radio and the Rhapsody digital music service. Along with the bundled TwonkyMedia Server, all media from the home computer or a DLNA-certified Network Area Storage (NAS) hard drive can be accessed through the neoHD. The neoHD is a compact and remarkably easy solution for today's sophisticated homeowner who wants to control technology, not have technology control them. Capable of delivering a high impact movie soundtrack from a Blu-ray disc or stream hours of music from the family computer, the neoHD Media Controller conveniently places all your media right in the palm of your hand.
