It seems that <I>Star Wars</I> fans can never get enough. In March 1999, more than six million of them downloaded the QuickTime trailer for <A HREF="http://www.lucasfilm.com/">Lucasfilm</A>'s <I>Episode I: The Phantom Menace</I> in the first three weeks it was available. QuickTime is <A HREF="http://www.apple.com/">Apple Computer</A>'s streaming-media technology, and it has been selected to deliver behind-the-scenes views of <I>Episode II</I> as it develops on location in Australia.
Something that legions of science fiction fans have long hoped for will become a reality this September: the release of a four-disc set of George Lucas's <I>Star Wars</I> trilogy.
The last few years have witnessed a revolution in how we watch movies at home. Likewise, the Internet has forever changed the way we track down information around the world. Because <I>SGHT</I> covers the former, it only makes sense that to do it well, we should use the latter.
Hot on the heels of the currently in theaters <I>Superman Returns</I>, Warner Brothers announced a slew of new DVD releases of the original films. There has been no formal announcement of any of these titles appearing on HD DVD or Blu-ray (Warner supports both formats), but we can hope.
Back in the good old days of video rentals, you just popped the tape in the player and started watching the movie. Then film studios figured out that they could add "trailers"—short ads for other movies—to the beginning of tapes in the hope of getting a little more exposure for their products—just like in the theater.
