Indy Audio Labs (IAL), owner of the high-performance brands Aragon and Acurus, has announced that it will showcase an upgraded 20-channel version of the Acurus ACT 4 home cinema processor and three other products, including a new lower priced surround processor, at next week’s CEDIA Expo.

The National Advertising Review Board says Time Warner Cable can no longer run ads touting its supposedly "advanced fiber optic network." The ruling is a victory for Verizon, which makes a big deal over its FiOS fiber optic network.

Compliance with the ad-industry watchdog's recommendations is voluntary. However, most major advertisers belong to the National Advertising Review Council, and toe the line when its Review Board issues a ruling.

If this were a logical world, money spent by movie studios in advertising new films would always translate into returns at the box office. But as any movie fan will tell you, the entertainment business is far from logical—in fact, there doesn't appear to be any direct relationship between spending on television ads for new releases and the box office numbers generated by those new releases. It's enough to drive an accountant crazy.

Its ability to handle DVD-Audio discs in either 5.1 channel surround sound mode or traditional two-channel stereo mode will attract music lovers, too. Movie soundtracks can be decoded by the GTP-760 in both DTS and Dolby Digital formats.

With 35 days to go, China-based Maxus Tech has successfully crowdfunded a device that uses sonar technology to turn any surface into a gesture-based control interface. The company actually exceeded its $20,000 goal on the first day and as of today has raised more than $45,000.
