Frank Biondi is making a very lucrative career of resigning from high-level positions. The former television executive and second-in-command at Viacom, Inc. has been forced out of the chairmanship at Universal Studios. The film-production company has not done well at the box office lately, a factor in the depressed stock price of its parent organization, Montreal-based Seagram, Ltd., which owns 80% of Universal. Former Hollywood talent agent and Creative Artists Agency co-founder Ron Meyer, who was Universal's president and chief operating officer, will take Biondi's place.

Black Friday, the once-official kick-off to holiday shopping, is a week away yet the deals are already in full swing and have been for quite some time (“Black Friday in July” anyone?) as retailers get a jump on holiday selling and wary shoppers scramble to grab must-have gifts. Only a handful of companies reached out to us with early BF deals so we scoured the web to see what kind of deals we could find. Here’s a sampling of what we found…

Forget laptops and phones. Forget robot vacuums, instant pots and all that other stuff. Black Friday this year is all about A/V, and to drive home that point, the subwoofer maestros at SVS are selling their 1000 and 2000 Series models at historically low prices.

Wouldn't you love to be able to see into the future? To be able to predict what the stock market will do tomorrow, who will win the next Superbowl, or just to see when the best time to buy a TV might be? The folks at Dealnews (that's a hint right...

It's hard enough to transform one facet of the consumer-electronics industry, let alone three or four. But if Motorola's recent gamble with their new set-top box technology (code-named "<A HREF="http://www.motorola.com/semi/blackbird">Blackbird</A>") pays off, they could accomplish just that.

Comcast isn't the only service provider trying to make room for more high definition channels by compressing other channels into a smaller bandwidth footprint. It looks like they all do it, to some degree, though some carriers are better at masking...

It's hard to believe, but more iPod-related stuff is on the way. Soon to be available are kiddie cases from ifrogz, a company started by the same guys who developed Reminderband custom silicone bracelets. (And how many times haven't we all wondered how the world existed before those came along?) The new company's Tadpole line of video iPod cases are made specifically for children ages one and up - but they do not come with sedatives or tension relieving headache medicine for adults of child-rearing age.
