You Can Stream Dozens of Classics on Apple TV+ for a Limited Time

Apple TV+ is known for its quality original movies and series but has decided to dabble in the classics… at least for a little while. The streaming service is making dozens of "great movies" available to stream through the end of April. The list runs the gamut from this year’s Oscar nominees Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon to fan favorites like Good Burger and Zoolander.

But there’s a catch: Titanic, Draft Day, Jurassic World, American Sniper, The Hurt Locket, and others will only be available for streaming through the end of March. Classics that get a full two-month run on Apple+ include Star Trek, Saving Private Ryan, The Wolf of Wall Street, Mad Max Fury Road, and everyone’s favorite movie, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

A list of which titles are available in which month is available here. Kudos to mac user Sigmund Judge for pulling it together!

Many of the titles are available in 4K with immersive sound (Dolby Atmos or Spatial Audio), and a few are available in 3D for Apple Vision Pro users, including Jurassic World, Gravity, and Edge of Tomorrow.

If you’re not an Apple TV+ subscriber but would like to catch some of these films before they disappear, along with a sampling of Apple TV originals, click here to sign up for a special two-month free trial (the usual trial is seven days). But you’ll have to do it soon because the offer is only available until March 14th. After two months, the subscription renews at $9.99 a month.

Apple’s move comes at a time when Max and Disney+ are dropping titles and Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ are cracking down on subscription sharing. Apple says five people can share a single subscription. And, while its subscription rate has risen from $6.99 to $9.99, Apple proudly states that its service is “always ad-free.”

The Apple TV+ app is available on TVs from Samsung, LG, Vizio, and Sony as well as on Xfinity, Roku, Fire TV, Google TV, PlayStation, Xbox, and, of course, Apple TV players.

When it launched in 2019, Apple TV+ was hailed as the first all-original streaming service and has since netted hundreds of awards and nominations for its programming.

Is Apple’s classic move a hint that a shift in its programming strategy is coming? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Appreciate the variety Apple TV+ is bringing with these classics. It is a smart move to offer a longer run for some titles. Time to get the popcorn ready.
