Samsung Electronics has introduced what it calls “Vision AI,” along with several new displays, at its CES First Look 2025 event. According to Samsung, this AI-powered technology is meant to move TVs beyond passive viewing devices and into the realm of “interactive, intelligent partners.”

Last summer Samsung teased its long-anticipated entry into the bustling smart speaker arena with a peek at the retro-futuristic Galaxy Home. Almost 10 months later, the speaker has yet to materialize but today Samsung CEO Hyun-suk Kim told The Korean Herald that it will launch in the “mid-second half of the year,” which suggests a September/October timeframe.

Samsung has added a massive 98-inch screen size to its Q80C QLED series of 4K TVs and today announced a $500 credit if you visit the company’s website to reserve the $8,000 TV. Follow through and place the order in July, and you get an extra $1,000 off plus a soundbar and free delivery and installation.

Samsung Electronics America has announced that its 2025 TV and soundbar lineup will include Eclipsa Audio, a 3D audio format developed in partnership with Google. The company claims Eclipsa Audio allows content creators to direct sounds with more precise location and intensity, aiming to offer viewers a more enveloping audio experience.

CES 2023 opens two weeks from today and the pre-show news machine is already in full swing. While the big-name A/V brands — Samsung, Sony, LG, etc. — tend to keep CES announcements under wraps until the eve of the show or opening day, tech startups are looking to drum up as much pre-show publicity as possible. One of the more intriguing announcements we’ve seen so far is what San Diego-based started up Displace is hailing as the “world’s first truly wireless TV.”
