DTS:X For Christmas?
The new DTS:X surround-sound format is being featured in just about every new high-end receiver and audio processor at CEDIA 2015 but just when will we hear DTS:X in the home?
I had a nice chat with the folks from DTS who are hoping for a happy holiday season. While the launch of DTS:X hasn't gone exactly as planned, they were quick to say that they don't want to roll out the red carpet until everything is just right.
The new immersive audio format is being prominently featured at just about every audio booth, including Sony and JBL, where I heard some great demos. DTS:X definitely delivered and was on equal footing with what I've been experiencing with my own Atmos home theater system. DTS says its codec will be compatible with a large array of speaker placements, including the commonly used Atmos layouts, and that we should see some white papers soon.
So what say you? Are you wishing for a Merry DTS:X Christmas this year??
