Fujitsu 50" PDP

Fujitsu has added an impressive 50"-diagonal plasma display panel to its monitor line.

The new PlasmaVision SlimScreen model P50XHA10 specifies an astounding 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 600 ANSI brightness. The PDP (plasma display panel) offers 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution and DVI-HDCP (digital video input – high-definition copy-protected) connectivity.

Image enhancements include a built-in line doubler that upconverts NTSC signals to DVD quality, and a Fujitsu proprietary process called Advanced Video Movement (AVM) processor, is claimed to eliminate or minimize most flicker and motion artifacts. Improved vertical resolution is another benefit attributed to AVM.

The P50XHA10 has a full array of digital, computer, and analog inputs for use with multiple video sources – including HD component video, S-Video, Composite video and analog RGB. The monitor accepts all DTV broadcast formats (using an external tuner) and scales them to fit its 768p native resolution.

The monitor sports a new look with a frame set off by sharper corners and angles than on previous models. It's being offered in lighter colors to fit with a wider variety of interior décor. "Not only does it deliver better image quality than ever before, its features have also been improved, and its newly restyled chassis is more refined and elegant," Fujitsu senior v.p. Tedd Rozylowicz said of the P50XHA10. "It represents the next step in plasma-display design."

The P50XHA10 shipped to dealers in December, with a $10,999 suggested retail price.
