Lovable Sulley and his wisecracking sidekick Mike Wazowski are the top scare team at Monsters, Inc., the scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. When a little girl named Boo wanders into their world, it's the monsters who are scared silly, and it's up to Sulley and Mike to keep her out of sight and get her back home.

While originally announced for Blu-ray release earlier this year, Pixar finally gets around to releasing one of my favorites from their catalog. I’ve actually owned this one since this spring when I imported it from Japan but that didn’t stop me from checking it out yet again when it showed up at my door. Pixar’s films just don’t seem to wear out and this is one of their most imaginative in my opinion.

Earlier this year we saw the release of A Bug’s Life on Blu-ray and I was really surprised how good it held up considering the age compared to Pixar’s newer films. This one is even better with amazing clarity, color and detail. The animation still impresses, though it is a bit simpler than what we’ve come to see from their more recent offerings. Still, the level of dimension is more than enough to qualify as a top reference title for the format. The DTS-HD Master Audio track is also outstanding with aggressive bass response and plenty of rich atmosphere. Plus I love the Pixar’s scores!!

This one’s features are right in line with Up’s and you see the same 4-disc treatment. You get the standard DVD of the film plus a digital copy along with a host of great special features. You get a fun roundtable discussion on the film’s creation and themes, plenty of behind the scenes features that look at the making of the animation and two great Pixar shorts. For the kids there are some interactive games and more.

Another must own from Pixar and a presentation that just doesn’t disappoint. Highly recommended!!
