The Time Traveler’s Wife—New Line Cinema (Blu-ray)

Movie: 4
Picture/Sound: 4.5/4
Extras: 2.5

Clare has been in love with Henry her entire life. She believes they are destined to be together, even though she never knows when they will be separated: Henry is a time traveler - cursed with a rare genetic anomaly that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through his lifespan with no control. Despite the fact that Henry's travels force them apart with no warning, Clare desperately tries to build a life with her one true love.

Just watching this film reminds me of yet another Nicholas Sparks translation but alas this one wasn’t penned by him. The themes are similar and get ready for some heart wrenching moments littered throughout this love story about a time traveler who comes in and out of the lives of his family and wife. It is a moving tale with great performances, but just make sure you have some Kleenex handy.

New Line delivers a strong visual presentation for this one with only some slight hiccups. Contrast levels are really strong with inky blacks that will test your displays low APL capabilities. Fine detail is outstanding and dimensionality is strong. I noticed some very slight moir issues here and there, but it was hardly worth noting. The soundtrack really drives the emotional swings of the movie with its score. Ambiance is convincing and dialogue always sounds natural in timbre. A solid presentation.

Extras include a look at the making of the film with interviews from the cast and crew. You also get interviews from the cast and a digital copy of the film for your portable device.

A solid love story that pulls at the heart strings. Recommended!
