TheaterSound operates in three areas. It evens out volume levels among different signal sources. It separates vocals from other content and dynamically adjusts them. And it offers "up to a 5.1 surround sound experience" using multichannel sources and built-in (generally stereo) TV speakers.

The announcement comes on the heels of Samsung's adoption of DTS into its TVs.
