Until now, Redbox has been known and loved for its bright red kiosks which rent 200 DVD and Blu-ray titles. But the company is looking beyond that, into the brave new world of streaming.

Bloomberg reports that Redbox is in discussions with Sonic Solutions, whose RoxioNow platform is already in use by Blockbuster and Best Buy. RoxioNow has a whole bevy of studio partners and CE manufacturer partners, so the deal would give Redbox's streaming operation a lot of content and compatible TVs. An announcement is expected in October.
