This Is the Week to Buy a New TV (or Two)

The days leading up to the Super Bowl have always been one of the best times of the year to buy a new TV. Below is a quick look at some of the deals available right now. Just keep in mind that discounted sets are last year’s models, which are being cleared to make way for 2016 models that hit store shelves in the Spring. Best Buy’s weekly ad, which runs through February 6, features the following deals:

  • Samsung UN55JS7000 55-inch 4K Ultra HD LCD/LED Smart TV, $1,000
  • Samsung UN65JU6700 65-inch 4K Ultra HD LCD/LED Smart TV (curved screen), $1,500
  • Samsung UN65JS8500 65-inch 4K Ultra HD LCD/LED Smart TV, $2,000
Fry’s weekly ad, which runs through February 6, features the following deals on Sony TVs (all with free shipping. Additional savings are available when promo codes are applied but you have to sign up and give you email address to get the codes.
  • Sony XBR55X850C 55-inch 4K Ultra HD LCD/LED Android TV, $1,198
  • Sony XBR65X850C 65-inch 4K Ultra HD LCD/LED Android TV, $1,998
  • Sony XBR75X850C 75-inch 4K Ultra HD LCD/LED Android TV, $3,498
hhgregg’s current Super Sale , which runs through February 6, features the following deals on Samsung SUHD TVs and many other models. Additional savings are added online and in-store when you use the promo code PLAYOFFS. LG is offering the following Super Bowl “deals” through February 13. For two of the models listed you have to click on “Buy Now” to see the discount. For all others, the “discounted” price actually says “Suggested Price” on the LG site; when you click “Buy Now” you’re taken to BestBuy.com where the discounted price is shown. Vizio is offering free shipping and has marked down some of its M Series TVs, including the following models. BGR Tech has rounded up more deals to check out here.

Ok so here's some inside info: Most of these prices have been the same or off-and-on every week since Thanksgiving. Also, all mid-level and up TV's are UMRP so every authorized retailer is required to sell them at the same price, so shopping around is a waste of time for those items. Go with the place that is the most convenient and has the best support.
