Cirque du SpeakerCraft

Bringing back fond memories of the one misdirected year (1998) when CEDIA held its convention in New Orleans (just after another near-miss storm) and not many conventioneers (including me) made it to many of their appointments or meetings, SpeakerCraft enlisted the aid of some scantily clad acrobatic dancers to catch the attention of the press folks who didn’t go to the Toshiba press conference. (It worked.)

SpeakerCraft CEO Jeremy Burkhardt and chosen sidekick, Dave Donald (VP of Marketing), make the most dynamic duo you could ever want at a press conference – or probably a frat party. Their mission this year is to convince everyone in the industry about the importance of education, for the salesperson, the installer, the customer, and maybe even the journalist.

Although they snuck in a rapid fire briefing on the new SpeakerCraft products, including new outdoor speakers that look like an exterior landscape lighting fixture, a new 3” ceiling speaker, some super-honking big-boy ceiling AIM 10 speakers with 10” woofers, an iPhone compatible multi-room control interface, and some cute “Sound Pillow” surface mounted speakers, they spent more time talking about what’s cool in general and what a great thing it is to expose other people to it.
