Amphion Announces Argon 7LS Speaker
The new Argon7LS incorporates the same passive radiator design used in the Argon3S and Argon3LS speakers. The design is said to create a more natural energy transfer and eliminate the problem of “unwanted tails” associated with bass-reflex cabinets.
The speaker has a 1-inch waveguide-loaded tweeter that “blends seamlessly” with a 6.5-inch aluminum woofer thanks to the use of a lower-than-usual 1,600 Hz crossover point, which is said to create a point-source in the most critical range of human hearing, while the waveguide produces a wide sweet spot.
Amphion said its acoustic design and approach to crossover implementation have “proven their value in some of the finest recording, mixing, mastering and postproduction facilities around the globe.”
The Argon7LS sells for $5,600/pair with a white or black finish and $6,000/pair in walnut veneer. Nine grille colors are available, including black, gray, beige, turquoise blue, sky blue, violet, red, yellow, and green.
