BG Radia R-17i Speaker System HT Labs Measures
L/C/R Sensitivity: 88.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Surround Sensitivity: 84.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the R-17i L/C/R (purple trace), 210i subwoofer (blue trace), and R-18i surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The R-17i's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.70/–4.60 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +1.18/–5.31 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz when mounted horizontally. The –3-dB point is at 71 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 58 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.24 ohms at 230 Hz and a phase angle of –59.69 degrees at 111 Hz.
The R-18i's listening-window response measures +1.57/–4.96 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz with the tweeter facing forward. The –3-dB point is at 67 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 55 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.44 ohms at 210 Hz and a phase angle of –74.52 degrees at 93 Hz.
The 210i's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 31 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 28 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 121 Hz with the Crossover switch set to Disabled.—MJP
