Mark Henninger: Here we are, CEDIA 2024. Got the new rig, got a new processor.

Jake Verfuerth: Yeah, we have a lot of exciting things, but probably the most important is the processor. It's been a long time coming, and folks have been super excited about having HDMI 2.1, 8K video, and 4K 120Hz video for the gamers out there. Most importantly, we now have a new web interface to control the processor. So, the whole thing can be done from the comfort of the couch now. You don't actually have to use the remote that comes with the unit anymore, although you can if you want. But with the web interface, control is a lot easier.

I know you can't probably see it here, but if I move the volume, it just instantly responds. It's a pretty sweet unit, and we're really excited about it. There are lots of other upgrades as well, especially in terms of audio performance. We have new DACs in here, which are significant updates compared to the ones in the previous model, the non-plus version. Additionally, we’ve made exciting improvements in network capabilities. The brains of the unit have been upgraded, making the whole thing a new experience, essentially—a plus experience, if you will.

MH: Right on, I'd love to check that out. It's always been a sticking point for me, dealing with the menus using the remote.

JV: Having full access and having it be that fast is amazing. That's something our customers have told us about. We love the remote—it’s a nice, big, heavy remote—but at the same time, it’s nice to not have to deal with it if you don’t want to.

MH: If I can make some quick adjustments and changes on the web interface, it’s much more convenient.

JV: Exactly, and that’s going to make everything more seamless, more intuitive, especially with how surround sound theaters are evolving. A lot more folks just want something simpler. They want to leave it where it is and control everything from one spot, and now you can. When we say 8K, that’s essentially HDMI 2.1.

And HDMI 2.1 doesn’t just mean 8K, it also means 4K at 120Hz, which is something we’ve heard from so many of our customers, especially gamers—both PC and console gamers. They want to run their consoles or PCs through the system, but they couldn't before because of HDMI 2.0. Now they can, and we’re very excited about that.

In fact, beyond 4K/120Hz, this system will also do 8K 30Hz, but even more impressive, it will handle 8K/60Hz. We’ve got a small demo video over there on that iPad showing it running an 8K/60Hz video signal, and it handles it just fine, which is pretty cool.
