Mark Henninger: Here we are, at CEDIA 2024 with Jill Escol. And this is the Origin Acoustics booth, which is just really hopping crazy. How much new stuff do you have?

Jill Escol: A lot. Pretty much everything throughout the whole booth is new.

MH: Well, we better take a mega booth tour then.

JE: Welcome to Ambisonic Systems. This is our luxury landscape system, or collection. And this year, we came out with the Ambisonic systems bollard in a hexagonal shape. So hexagons are everywhere this season, and we felt like this was a really good compromise between round and square versions of the product.

So Ambisonic is known for its round ribbon planar tweeters, which make it just very high resolution, very high performance, hi-res audio, able to project a ton of sound and fill any outdoor space with sound. We use these for commercial or residential projects.

MH: Yeah, I mean, you can, really hear them from over there right now, and that's like: "Yeah, let's turn it up…"

JE: So what I'm excited to show you is that we've actually expanded the collection, and now we're offering satellite speaker surface mounts that match this hexagonal shape. And the products come in three different finishes. So we've got Stargazing Silver, Champagne, and Midnight Black. And all the collection comes in all three of those colors. And then we've got different sizes in each speaker, too.

This is Kyle Ebeling. He's actually the brand manager for Ambisonic Systems and creates all these impressive products so he can talk a little bit about the technology and the new things that we're showing.

MH: All right, Kyle, take us through this.

Kyle Ebeling: Awesome. So, the hexagonal bollards that we have are a six inch sub, eight inch sub, ten inch sub. Down-firing four. Down-firing five-an-a-quarter. Down-firing six. They all have a single round, one inch ribbon. They come in three different colors. It's all 360 degree output. And then, because this is an aluminum sleeve, we can actually take this sleeve and do an RAL number match or a Pantone match and powder coat these to match whatever color the customer is looking for.

That's the route that we're trying to go across the whole series. So as we walk this way, you can see that we're taking the same shape and now integrating it into our satellite speakers. So we have the eight-inch, the six-inch, and the four-inch that are using that same hexagonal shape. These are going to be aluminum extrusions as well. And underneath, there's two screws, so that entire sleeve can slip off and we can powder coat that to match, or we can use it as the same color as the bollards have with that being able to be matched to whatever Pantone color or RAL number.

We're also showing the soundbars this year. I have three versions of the soundbar extrusion. I have the four-inch, which is two-and-a-half inches deep. We have five-and-a-quarter, which is up above. And then the six-and-a-half is on the other side on that TV over there. All of these soundbars are going to be custom cut to the length and width of the TV.

If there's any form of IR sensor or logo, we'll go ahead and notch that into the bar itself. They can be wall mounted just with a cleat; we can use through-holes to mount it to the wall, or we can do the custom brackets that we're making in-house to shim it out to the front of the TV. All of these soundbars are paired with our different subwoofer lines that we have.

So this is our surface mounted twelve. It's a dual-ported twelve. We do the triple-port, double-tuned variable twelve on this side here with the large canopy. This gets buried down into the ground about 2 feet. And that is about a 28-inch diameter hole that you have to bury that down and have it stick up about six inches above the canopy. This is our buried ten. This is a little bit smaller, about 18 inches diameter, but still 2 feet deep.

And then our ten, that's a surface mount. We're also bringing out surface mounted speakers this year that match the LSR80s. So if you're doing an outdoor system that had the satellite speaker to get the same timbre of sound, you can use these guys. We're doing it in three colors at the show, with the black, the champagne, and silver that matches the hexagon bollards. We're also going to do it in white because a lot of the surface mount speakers get mounted in that color.

This is actually set up as a 2.1 setup. So we have the two sats on the side. And then this is actually an eight-inch surface-mounted subwoofer to pair with these. Not every application that you can a burial sub. So we give you guys that option to actually fill this out and actually get a low frequency subwoofer in a surface mounted application.

On this side, we're now showing off our new marquee collection. For in ceiling options or Atmos, you can use this six-inch woofer or an eight-inch woofer.

The dust cap is actually acoustically transparent. There's a throated one-inch ribbon buried inside of it. This gives us that ability to match the timbre of sound going from your on-wall or in-wall to your in ceiling application. This same woofer fits inside this angled surround. So if you don't have the option to go in-ceiling, you can do this. It's dual-ported on the bottom, so we can get a reference level of 40 hz out of a six-inch throated ribbon tweeter. This is our 3500. So this is just a two-way. It's two eight-inch drivers and the three-inch ribbon. And then this is our large marquee speaker. Both of these are on-wall here at the show, but we do have the custom bracket to make it an in wall application.

It's paired with our new shallow dual sub, which is playing from 18 Hz to 55 Hz. So it's just low subsonic reinforcement, because the Marquees are actually playing down to 40 hz by themselves. And that's the new Marquee collection.

MH: More Origin booth, more new products. All right Greg and Jill, what is this?

Greg: This is our award winning Blends invisible speaker. This is the first production sample. We have three models. They all look exactly the same, fit in the same space. A six-inch two-way, an eight-inch two-way, and an eight-inch three-way speaker. They have this protective back cover on them, just to protect from dust and debris in the wall. But we also have, behind Jill, a fire rated backbox. I believe it's one of the only invisible speakers that has a fire rated backbox with patented pending magnetic shims so you can get the depth correct. These are shipping later this year, similarly priced to our competitors, but they sound way better.

MH: Continuing the exploration of the Origin booth, I am here with Joe Whitaker. And this is the Origin Pro section. So what is Origin Pro about?

Joe Whitaker: So everyone knows us for our residential speakers, being one of the most innovative, one of the disruptors in our industry. We decided we were gonna go take over commercial as well. So when we started, we started with three different types of speakers in three different sizes. We have surface mount, in ceiling, and pendant in three sizes, five, six, eight. All three have a sub.

When we went commercial, we decided to do it the right way. We hold all the certifications for fire ratings, UL, you name it, we did it the right way. All of our speakers are designed specifically for real commercial installations.

But we don't just stop there. We go from professional to party. And that is our Custom Ambisonic line, which are our AC 6.5s in line-array configuration. These are planar-ribbon tweeters, fully outdoor rated, made from the same stuff that NASA parachutes are made of. Stacked on top of the dual 10s. And we just came out with our new massive dual 18-inch subwoofer, which we'll be playing several times through the show, four o'clock every day—because it creates so much pressure they will not let us play it during the day.

Amplification is always a key point in any residential or commercial installation. So we've come out with 16 different variants: from a 125 two-channel to its 250 4-channel, all the way up to a 1200 watt four channel amp that can go to 1500 watts in two ohms.

So we cover all of those, and all 16 of these models also have a Dante variant. So we're covering your basic, all the way up to true professional installation with Dante. So when we said we were coming for the commercial market, we were very, very serious about it. We're making sure that we can provide the best of the best for the commercial, hospitality, and residential market.
