This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the SKF-940F L/R (purple trace), SKW-940 subwoofer (blue trace), SKC-940C center channel (green trace), and SKM-940S surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of
1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes. The integrated equalization and crossover of the receiver was included in the speaker measurements.
The L/R's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.74/–2.83 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 113 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 96 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 6.67 ohms at 6.9 kHz and a phase angle of –38.90 degrees at 91 Hz. Sensitivity averages 84.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.
The center's listening-window response measures +1.49/–3.13 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and (+/–15-degree) horizontal responses measures +1.34/–3.75 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 114 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 94 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 6.58 ohms at 6.4 kHz and a phase angle of –51.36 degrees at 111 Hz. Sensitivity averages 83.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.
The surround's listening-window response measures +1.81/–1.49 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 99 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 90 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 7.63 ohms at 186 Hz and a phase angle of –52.23 degrees at 111 Hz. Sensitivity averages 82 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz.
The sub's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 19 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 17 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 103 Hz.
Crosstalk at 1 kHz driving 2.83 volts into an 8-ohm load was –97.16 dB left to right and –94.25 dB right to left. THD+N from the amplifier was less than 0.006 percent at 1 kHz when driving 2.83 volts into an 8-ohm load. The signal-to-noise ratio with 2.83 volts driving an 8-ohm load from 10 Hz to 24 kHz with "A" weighting was –107.90 dBrA.—MJP
