  Sure, there are waterproof TVs. But most TVs turn into eyesores when not in use. No matter how pretty the bezel, even the most expensive set is a big black hole in the wall when the set is turned off. Pantel is making waves with their latest product line.

These new LCD  TVs are designed for bathrooms, including showers, and saunas. Why there? When the sets are turned off, they turn into mirrors.  How cool is that?

They are waterproof, so they can also go outdoors.

These aren't scaled-down low-end models, but not exactly spec'ed to the max. Their specs are:

HDMI inputs, 720p resolution, and a contrast ratio as high as 1,700:1. All models have waterproof speakers too and are wall-mountable. The prices are $1,299 for the 17-inch, $1,499 for the 20-inch, $2,499 for the 26-inch, and $2,999 for the 32-inch model.

According to Pantel, "This one-of-a-kind mirror model is sleek and elegant, all at the same time. These units are dual-purpose TVs to aid the designer/installer who is strapped for space, or who just wants to hid a TV in plain sight. When in off mode, they make the perfect mirror. When turned on, they offer everything a TV should. But that's not all. These TVs are waterproof, too, which is what makes the product all-around useful. This product is ideal in a variety of settings, including saunas, steamrooms, showers, restrooms, bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, hotels, etc."

While hanging large electronics over my tub makes me a bit uncomfortable, I'm definitely getting one for my sauna. Aren't you? —Leslie Shapiro
