Sound & Vision readers who participated in last week’s poll are not exactly falling over themselves to smarten up their homes with the sort of automated amenities Darryl Wilkinson wrote about in his recent blog, “Affordable New Home Automation Systems Put the Smart in Your Home.” Four in ten respondents chose “My life is fine without home automation” in responding to our question: “Do you have a home automation system?” Despite the overwhelming indifference, more than a quarter of poll participants reported having some form of home automation and a quarter said they are thinking about installing a do-it-yourself system. Here are the full results:

44% No. My life is fine without home automation.

24% No, but I’m thinking about doing a DIY system.

20% Yes, I have a basic system that I installed myself.

5% Yes, I have a full-blown system that was professionally installed. It does everything except bring me coffee in the morning.

4% No, but I’m thinking about having a system professionally installed.

3%Yes, I have a basic system that was professionally installed.
