This electrifying action sequel unleashes the deadly invisible Predator in another jungle - the urban jungle of Los Angeles. Danny Glover stars as a lieutenant who mistakenly concludes that mangled bodies found by the police are the work of feuding gangs. Instead, he finds himself confronting a savage alien who has come from a distant world to hunt humans for sport.

Predator would be a hard act to follow for any action series and this one was met with mixed feelings by all. I personally enjoyed it, but it does drift into silliness at times. Now with rumors over the reboot of the franchise in the works with Robert Rodriquez steering the ship, you have to wonder how the next ones will play out. I still find this one to be great popcorn fun, and better than a lot of sequels we’ve seen over the last few years.

I was wondering how well this one would fare in HD and I was actually surprised at how good it looked. Fox has delivered a transfer that is considerably better than I would have expected for a smaller catalog release like this one. The film is in great shape with good definition and depth. There is some minor noise here and there but nothing worth complaining about. Colors are slightly muted and the film does look a bit older but dimensionality is strong and contrast levels are pretty decent. A pleasant surprise overall.

The Master Audio soundtrack is a bit on the thin side but makes full use of the surround soundstage. There is plenty of action here and the sound design does a good job of using the surrounds to add to the excitement of the mix. Dialogue can be a bit forward at times but the rest of the imaging is solid. Bass response is okay, but not to the level of dynamics we see from modern soundtracks.

Extras include a pair of audio commentaries along with a look at the production. Some promo stuff including trailers is also included.

This is a fun addition to the series and a good popcorn flick. Fox does a better than expected job with the presentation making this an easy recommendation for fans of the film.
