Trapped in an elevator high above Philadelphia, five people discover that the Devil is among them – and no one can escape their fate. This chilling, supernatural thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way to a heart-stopping ending with a truly wicked twist.

Universal serves up a pretty solid HD presentation for this chiller. The video features great contrast rendition with solid blacks and plenty of rich contrast. Fine object detail is excellent in close up shots but there are moments when it looks like some noise reduction has been applied. Compression never seems to be a problem. The DTS-HD Master Audio mix is a powerhouse with ample use of the low end to set the mood and punctuate the intensity of the film. Surround use is excellent and this is a very moody soundtrack with a great score to compliment to atmosphere.

Extras include a digital copy of the film along with some deleted scenes and a look at the story and production. You also get an intro to the Night Chronicles, which this is the first film of.

M. Night Shyamalan hasn’t been batting very well lately so it was interesting to see one of his stories adapted by someone else. Overall there are some good chills here, but I don’t see this one being nearly as memorable as Night’s more popular works. The soundtrack is brilliant though with lots of intensity. Easily worth a rental for fans of the genre.
