Here Come First 3D BDs

Sony and Disney are first out of the gate with 3D-compatible movies on Blu-ray.

At last week's Consumer Electronics Show, Sony announced that its first 3D BDs would emerge in 2010, starting with Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The release would accompany 3D TVs and disc players this summer. More 3D titles will be announced in the spring.

Also at CES, Disney said its opening 3D Blu move will be the Jim Carrey version of A Christmas Carol. Look for it in the fourth quarter. Disney boasts that it "has produced and released more 3D content than any other major studio to date."
