Google Tests TV Search

Google makes life easier in so many ways. Soon it may become useful in a new way: searching TV content.

The online behemoth is experimenting with a set-top box that would provide search capability embracing both web-based video, such as Google-owned YouTube, as well as anything carried on DirecTV, reports Digital Trends, quoting The Wall Street Journal. Google is also working with the Dish Network, reports Fast Company.

The box uses a dedicated keyboard and probably runs the Android OS. TiVo has also made both web and cable programming searchable with its new Premiere DVR.
