Keep It Quiet

Auralex Acoustics will be introducing a complete do-it-yourself home-theater room treatment system at the upcoming Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo in Denver, Colorado.

The company's new SonoSuede System is designed specifically for home theater applications. The package consists of four thick, black, beveled panels (16" x 48" x 2") and eight trapezoidal-shaped, square-edge panels (16" x 48" x 1") which provides a total surface area of 54 square feet.

Auralex says the SonoSuede System is designed to be a cost-effective solution for treatment of home theater rooms while also offering a variety of decorative options. The System utilizes acoustically transparent synthetic suede fabric and includes special mounting blocks that are said to provide superior acoustics as well as aesthetic benefits.

The SonoSuede System is available for $999 (MAP). The stock color combinations are: black/red; black/tan; and brown/tan. Other color combinations are available on a custom order basis.

Home theater owners who are interested in a more elaborate solution for treating their home theaters can use Auralex's Interactive Kit Calculator that offers immediate recommendations based on the user's room size, room function, and aesthetic choice. A more in-depth recommendation is available from Auralex by submitting the Personalized Room Analysis Form. Auralex recommends using this form for rooms with sound transmission problems or odd-shapes.
