DirecTV will get a leg up on the Dish Network this fall with the launch of the MGM HD channel, reports Broadcasting & Cable. The lion will roar 24/7.

MGM already offers 20 channels throughout the world. But this one will use the studio's historic library of 4100 movies to boost its HD presence in the United States. Original programming will include awards shows and behind-the-scenes looks at current productions.
