’60s Sci-Fi Classic ‘The Outer Limits’ Hits Blu-ray Today

It’s time for fans of’60s sci-fi television to rejoice. Starting today, Season 1 of the classic television series The Outer Limits is available on Blu-ray.

All 32 episodes from the 1963-64 debut season have been remastered in HD and are offered in this seven-disc set, complete with audio commentaries by David J. Schow, author of The Outer Limits Companion, and a half dozen film historians. The set also includes a 40-page booklet dedicated to Schow’s essay, “There Is Nothing Wrong With Your Television Set.”

The set, which is available through Amazon for $72.50, includes 27 hours of programming featuring early performances by numerous actors who went on to enjoy Hollywood fame, including Ed Asner, Dabney Coleman, Robert Culp, Bruce Dern, Robert Duvall, Martin Landau, David McCallum, Leonard Nimoy, Warren Oates, Carroll O Connor, Cliff Robertson, Martin Sheen, and many more.

The series produced 49 episodes between 1963 and 1965 and proved influential in its own right, even though the seeds of its being — The Twlight Zone, which aired from 1959 to 1964 — are unmistakable.
