Bose Offers Audio-Fortified LCD TV

Up to now Bose has been primarily an audio company. But the speaker-industry colossus is moving into new territory with the VideoWave, its first video display with integrated audio system.

The display is a 42-inch 1080p LCD panel. Built into its chassis are seven drivers plus six woofers connected to a bass-boosting waveguide. Amplification and DSP reside in a separate console. ADAPTiQ auto setup recognizes room size, shape, and furnishings. Bose says the RF (as opposed to infrared) clickpad remote emits such a strong signal, you can aim it anywhere and it'll communicate with the TV.

Price: $5349. For that Bose will deliver the equipment, set it up, perform the audio calibration, and recycle your existing TV if you ask. The price includes an iPod/iPhone dock but not wall brackets. Look for the product exclusively in Bose stores starting on October 14.
