CES 2009: Samsung's HTiB Details
More details are now available on Samsung's new lineup of home-theater-in-a-box systems. Three systems are being unveiled, and all three have Blu-ray players with BD-Live capabilities.
In addition, they'll have streaming capabilities to stream on-demand content from Netflix and Pandora - bringing Internet radio to your home theater system. If you haven't checked out Pandora, it's worth a look. What is still not clear is if these systems will be able to stream HD content from Netflix.
Connect a Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n to the USB port, and all three models can wirelessly stream BD Live content or Netflix and Pandora through your home networks. Who needs nasty-looking ethernet cables?
Almost ubiquitous these days . . .
all three include iPod docks.
Product lineup is:
BD1250 has wireless-ready rear speakers, 1000-watts total power, 1080p upscaling and support for DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD.
The BD8200 is the wall-mountable soundbar, with a total of 300 watts and a wireless subwoofer.
The BD7200 is a 400-watt system designed for smaller offices or a bedroom.
Prices for the three are $1,499, $999, and $799. --Leslie Shapiro
