First Alert Incorporates Alexa for Air Monitoring
As its name implies, the Smoke + CO alarm uses premium sensors to check for smoke and carbon monoxide inside the home. The system is designed to be hard-wired into the home’s existing interconnected system, allowing homeowners to replace sensors on a one-by-one basis instead of needing to replace all at once or risk a lapse in coverage. If triggered, all other hard-wired alarms in the home will sound, maintaining maximum protection. With Alexa embedded, the sensor becomes another point of control around the home, allowing users to stream music, order products online, check weather, and more. You can also use Alexa to check air quality in a room or check the status of their alarms.
The compact Onelink Environment Monitor not only monitors levels of carbon monoxide in the home, detecting levels as low as 9 parts-per-millions (30 to 70 ppm is considered dangerous), but also monitors temperature and humidity. Beyond its Alexa integration, it is also Apple HomeKit-enabled and the device can send a push notification as well as sound an alarm if it detects an emergency. The device can also visually indicate the room’s temperature, lighting white when it is optimal, amber when the too warm, and blue when too cool.
Both products are expected to be available by year end, “at competitive pricing.”
