First Take: Jay Mohr Page 2

COMMENTS & OPTIONS

You participated in the making-of featurette, but not in any of the commentaries. Do you like commentaries? I have never listened to commentaries because I don't care what the actors have to say. I want to watch the show. I can't imagine watching a show for the first time and having someone talking over it - but people do love commentaries.

The King's Ransom commentary is really good, though. It's Anthony Anderson and me. We definitely were a little, um, altered at the time. I like him. He's a fun man to work with.

0605_mohr_phoneYou often call in to the Opie & Anthony show on XM, so I'm guessing you think satellite radio is a cool thing. It's the future, and it's going to make terrestrial radio go away. It has to. People are too smart.

Would you do your own show on satellite radio? I'd love to. I'd just talk about cards - greeting cards, Hallmark. It would be the most boring show ever.

What would Peter Dragon think of HBO's Entourage boys? He would think they were ... adorable. He's way above the Entourage guys. He's all about the money. His movies are all about running through the jungle and killing aliens.

Wouldn't the big-budget Aquaman movie they're doing on that show be on Peter's radar? Only if he controlled it.

In a few years, would Peter still be in the same spot in life, or would he have died from a heart attack, or ... ? I think he'd be a born-again Christian.

Name a movie that Peter Dragon would option today. Actually, it would be a TV show, and it would be something bloody: Celebrity Poker Death Squad.

SPORTING MAN

I read your Mohr Sports column every week on SI.com; they're nice enough to send me an e-mail letting me know when it goes up. How did that come about? A friend of mine got very sick, and he needed someone to write his column for a month. Then I groveled my way into a regular gig.

It's totally in your voice. But I see you don't do much on hockey. Well, I write about sports. I don't write about skating. I know hockey's a sport, but it never got to me. How I feel about hockey is probably how most people feel about baseball: they just don't give a shit. I mean, I try, but I just don't care.

Well, there's the whole Wayne Gretzky/Janet Jones thing ... I just don't know how you move half a million dollars without your partner knowing about it.

Separate bank accounts? But then your accountant goes, "Yo, dude, your wife is moving half a mil. And, oh yeah, it's to a bookie who works for you." [MM laughs] See, even you can't explain your way around that one. And no one ever mentions if she won or lost.

Didn't she bet 5 grand on a coin toss? What was the over/under on that? Two.
