0507_ipod_isportcase1) Monster iSportCase ($20) This simple white-plastic case with belt clip leaves your iPod's face pretty much exposed to every kind of abuse, but it securely totes the player while giving you unfettered access to its controls. monstercable.com

2) PodSleevz ($21) Available in indigo (shown), grape, ultraviolet, red, titanium, or black, this fabric case is way more stylish than the others here. But it's meant more for warding off the slings and arrows of everyday casual use than, say, bullfighting. radtech.us

3) Matias iPod Armor ($40) This one is meant for bullfighters and others who like to throw themselves into harm's way. Its foam lining keeps your 'Pod snug while the metal enclosure protects it from all but the most severe blows. The case is surprisingly easy to scratch - but showing off the various dings you've accumulated during your adventures could up your action- hero status. matias.ca/ipodarmor

4) OtterBox ($50) Designed primarily for hikers and campers exposing their iPods to rigorous conditions, this waterproof case lets you manipulate your player's clickwheel through the plastic housing and does a terrific job of keeping the elements at bay. otterbox.com

5) H2O Audio SV iP4G ($150) This elaborately - and impressively - engineered contraption is an effective exoskeletal extension of your 'Pod, allowing you to listen to and control the player while scuba diving or engaged in other underwater activities. The SV iP4G did do a first-rate job of keeping the watery brine out and the tunes in. h2oaudio.com
