Klipsch Adds Atmos-Enabled Reference Series Models

Klipsch has added two Dolby Atmos-enabled models to its Reference Premiere speaker series.

The R-26FA tower speaker ($599 each) has an integrated complement of drivers that fire upward at an angle to reflect sound off the ceiling to create a more immersive surround-sound experience that includes a height dimension. The R-14SA ($399/pair) is a freestanding elevation module that can be added to any existing speaker.

The elevation module built into the R-26FA mates a horn-loaded 1-inch aluminum tweeter with a 5.25-inch copper-spun Injected Molded Graphite (IMG) woofer; the main speaker joins the same tweeter with dual 6.5-inch woofers in a ported enclosure that stands 39 inches tall.

The R-14SA mates a horn-loaded 0.75-inch aluminum tweeter with a 4-inch copper-spun Injected Molded Graphite (IMG) woofer.

Noting that Klipsch produces the only two-way, horn-loaded Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers on the market, the company said its proprietary Tractrix horn technology enables the new models to meet the directivity and sensitivity specifications Dolby has set for with Atmos-enabled speakers.

Both models sport a black brushed-polymer finish.
