Runco Reflection VX-101c Front-Projection System HT Labs Measures
The chart above shows the gray scale (or color temperature) of the Runco projector and the color points of the DLP projector's red, green, and blue filter wheel. We measured each intensity level of the gray scale, plotted above in the center of the triangle, with the Photo Research PR-650. The VX-101c's image ranged from a 6,000 Kelvin on darker images to 7,000 K over most of the rest of the range and casts a slight blue tint compared with the industry-standard color temperature of D6500 K. The red and green color points are slightly short of those specified by SMPTE. Blue is accurate, red is a hair orange, and green is slightly yellow. While this may affect color purity to some degree, it also boosts light output. In this case, we measured the light output at approximately 26 foot-lamberts on a 6-foot-wide Stewart StudioTek 130 screen.—MW
