Upcoming Aerosmith Shows Will Be THX-Certified

Aerosmith’s “Deuces Are Wild” Las Vegas residency shows at the Park MGM don’t kick off until April 6 but the iconic rock band has already added new dates, perhaps because word has gotten around that they will be THX Live! performances. (Actually, probably not, but it’s a nice thought…)

The show, which features never-seen-before footage from Aerosmith recording sessions, is being hailed as “one of the most immersive, state-of-the art audio and video technology experiences in Las Vegas” thanks to a partnership between THX and L-Acoustics, which will present the show in L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound.

As L-Acoustics explains, L-ISA technology combines powerful hardware and software with object-based multidimensional mixing and specialized speaker configurations to “immerse the listener with sound from all directions to provide a sense of being inside the music.” To seal the deal, THX engineers will work their magic to ensure a topnotch live-music experience — one with a wide sweet spot and something often lost at live shows: intelligible vocals (or at least as intelligible as they can be given Steven Tyler’s growl).

The production draws on the expertise of many creative types, including veteran show director Amy Tinkhim (Paul McCartney, James Taylor), show producer Steve Dixon (Guns N' Roses, Justin Timberlake) and Grammy Award-winning producer Giles Martin, who created the soundscape for The Beatles Love by Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas. On the visual side, the team includes the production design studio Fireplay and the special effects studio Pixomondo, known as the visual wizard behind Game of Thrones.

In another unique wrinkle, fans who buy tickets for an “on-stage VIP section” will be treated to audio direct from the Aerosmith mixing board through a set of 1More THX-certified earbuds fed by MIXhalo audio technology, which streams music to concert-goers in real-time with no lag.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. PT. Prices start at $75. For show dates and ticket information, visit ticketmaster.com.
