We told you that 3D movies were the next big thing. And you didn't believe us. Then, we told you again. And you still didn't believe us. Well, it's official now. 3D movies, for better or worse, are hurtling toward you (in 3D).

Confirmation of 3D's hot Hollywood profile comes with the announcement that George Lucas is preparing 3D editions of his six Star Wars films. That's right. Remember how the big space ship flies overhead in the first film, and how cool that was? Well, now the big ship will fly overhead in 3D. Clearly, it will be much cooler that way. Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animations, confirmed it in an interview with Comingsoon.net. He said, "He isn't going to put a product out, I think, that isn't anything other than first rate."

This franchise has made so much money that LucasFilms just can't count it anymore....

Instead, every five seconds, they just move the decimal point over a digit. But at least some of that cash will be spent on this re-release. It might cost between $50,000 to $100,000 per minute to convert the films into 3D. A mere drop in the bucket for this money machine.

So, instead of those boring 2D light saber duels, fasten your seat belts for extremely more exciting 3D light saber duels. Not to mention Jar Jar Binks in Super Annoying 3D Vision. -Ken C. Pohlmann
