Yves Faroudja Honored with Lifetime Achievement Emmy

Yves Faroudja, founder and Chief Technical Officer of Faroudja Laboratories, has been awarded the Charles F. Jenkins Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

According to a company statement, Faroudja will receive the Engineering Emmy for his development of patents in video-image processing, which, the Academy noted, have led to product applications that "enjoy wide recognition by broadcasters and production houses." Faroudja will accept the Academy's latest honor at the annual Engineering Awards Presentation on June 24 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The award is Faroudja's second Emmy. He received his first in 1991 for developing techniques to improve video-image quality. Recently, Faroudja also won three Golden Note Awards (see previous story) from The Academy Advancing High Performance Audio & Video for Video Processor Design, Best One-Piece Rear-Projection System, and Most Innovative Video Technology.
