PSB Speakers today unveiled a high-performance subwoofer designed to all but eliminate distortion and unwanted resonances.

Slated to ship in March at $1,499, the SubSeries BP8 powered subwoofer is hailed as “the first in a new generation of premium subwoofers featuring [Hpex] nCore amplification and advanced isolation.”

The BP8 mates a “conservatively-rated” 500-watt (continuous) HybridDigital amplifier with a robust set of dual-opposing 8-inch drivers in a sealed satin-black or -white cabinet measuring 14 x 13 x 13 inches. Engineered with an emphasis on rigidity and acoustic neutrality, the enclosure is fitted with IsoAcoustics feet to minimize low-frequency vibrations and resonances.

The drivers are wired in-phase in a bipolar arrangement to eliminate vibrations and deliver immersive bass regardless of placement, according to PSB. Each driver supports it woven carbon-fiber cone with a high-density rubber surround and boasts a motor assembly with a 2.5-inch voice coil and massive 2.8-pound ounce magnet.

The BP8 is rated down to 25 Hz (±3 dB) and equipped with a variable (50-150 Hz) crossover, phase control, LFE/line-level inputs with gold-plated RCA jacks, and a 12-volt trigger. For more information, visit psbspeakers.com.
