ABC's 'My Generation' iPad app takes cues from TV
Television show and network apps for the iPhone/iPad/iPod are a dime a dozen, but ABC is offering something surprising and new. Its new My Generation Sync app listens to the new show My Generation while you watch it, and uses audio cues to load certain content.
The app doesn't continually listen in on you while you watch TV, though. Instead, it listens to the show for 10 seconds to determine how far along it is, then synchronizes its content to fit that time. The good news is that it's a free app. The bad news is it's only for My Generation, so you're out of luck if you're hoping for an app that will offer supplemental content with other ABC shows like Grey's Anatomy or Castle. Still, if this app takes off, ABC and other networks might consider using this audio-syncing technology for other shows.
